Business Advisory

Business Advisory and Consulting in Alamo Heights, TX

Entity structure, due diligence and tax credits, worked through by a CPA who is also licensed as an Enrolled Agent, so the plan we build together is one the IRS will recognize too.

Structuring decisions before they become tax problems

Most of the advisory work I do happens before a return is ever filed. That's entity selection consulting, meaning whether a sole proprietorship, LLC or S-Corp election actually fits your income and your plans for the business, due diligence consulting when you're buying a business, adding a partner or bringing in outside money, and tax credits consulting, checking your situation against the federal and Texas credits that a lot of small businesses simply never get told about. The goal in each case is the same: decide with real numbers in front of you instead of finding out later what a choice actually cost.

How an S-Corp election actually works

Once profit gets to a certain level, electing S-Corp status can reduce the self employment tax you owe, because only your salary, not the full profit, gets taxed at that rate. It isn't free, though. An S-Corp brings payroll obligations and its own filing requirements that a sole proprietorship or straight LLC doesn't have. I run the actual numbers for your business before recommending it either way.

Established in 2010, I've built the entity and tax-credit picture for individuals and small business owners across Texas for over 15 years, as a CPA and IRS Enrolled Agent.

Advisory and consulting

Three ways I work with business owners before tax season.

Entity selection consulting

Sole proprietorship, LLC or S-Corp election, worked out against your actual income and plans for the business, not a generic rule of thumb.

Due diligence consulting

Buying a business, bringing on a partner, or taking on outside investment all mean looking closely at someone else's numbers before you commit. I review the financial picture and tell you what it actually shows.

Tax credits consulting

Federal and Texas-specific credits go unclaimed constantly because nobody checked whether the business qualified. I look at your situation against the credits that could apply to it.

Texas-specific structuring

Texas has no state income tax, but that doesn't mean a business here is free of state-level obligations. Most entities still owe an annual franchise tax report, often required even in years no tax is actually due, and many businesses need to file sales tax returns with the Texas Comptroller. Entity choice and these filings aren't separate conversations, they're part of the same one.

Why this sits with an Enrolled Agent

An entity or credit decision made without considering how the IRS will treat it later is only half finished. Holding both the CPA licence and the Enrolled Agent licence means the advisory work and the representation work, if it's ever needed, come from the same office and the same understanding of your file.

Tell me where the business stands and where you want it to go. We'll work out the structure that fits, with the numbers to back it up.
